Gives Back to the Local Community
What happens when you mix 8 local charities with a tour of local pottery studios? Well, this year you will have a chance to find out first hand as the Florida West Coast Ceramic Society kicks off their 4th annual studio tour called “Tour De Clay”. Slated for the second weekend in December, 6 local potters will open their studios to the public and offer a wide range of functional and decorative pottery. All day Saturday and Sunday (Dec. 10th and 11th), you can travel from studio to studio and watch as each studio owner open their kilns, demonstrate pottery making and firing techniques, and give each attendee the opportunity to make a donation to a local charity that doubles as a chance to win one of 8 beautiful pieces of pottery.
The charities benefiting from this years tour are: Dunedin Fine Art Center’s Scholarship Program; Suncoast Hospice; a local chapter of the American Cancer Society in the fight against breast cancer; SHAMc - Saftey Harbor Art & Music Center’s building fund; Animal Coalition of Tampa; The Spring of Tampa Bay - Domestic Violence Prevention; Citrus Park Big Cat Rescue; and WMNF 88.5 fm - a listener sponsored radio station. It is our hope that people will learn more about these organizations throughout the tour in a way that is fun and mutually beneficial.
During the tour you can buy $5 tickets for a chance to win your favorite auction item. Each Studio sells tickets for their auction item. Winners will be selected Sunday at 4 pm.
